Schramsberg is a small, historic Napa Valley winery, originally established in 1862 by Jacob Schram, and visited in 1880 by Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson who wrote about it in his book, The Silverado Squatters. The winery enjoys a hillside setting, with some 40 acres of estate vineyards located at the winery, planted equally to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winery produces primarily four types of méthode champenoise sparkling wines—Blanc de Blanc, Blanc de Noirs, Cuveé de Pinot, and Cremant. A fine brandy is also produced under the Schramsberg label, in a joint venture with Rémy Martin of France. Schramsberg Cellars is now a designated Historical Landmark. Open for wine sales 10am-4pm daily; tours and sales by appointment. Tasting fee: $12.00.
